I spent the weekend upgrading my older 486DX4-100 laptop that has Win95 installed on it. I really wanted to upgrade to Win98, but with all the problems surrounding Win98 and PCMCIA, I decided to stay with Win95 and perform a massive upgrade/patch cycle from the following WWW resources:
PCWorld
did an article in Sept. 1997, that compares the
differences between Win95 retail, Win95 OSR2 (OEM), and
Win98. It's interesting reading... so go read it at:
Windows
98: A Convenience You Can Live With-Or Without (9/97)
Microsoft has it's own list of patches
for Win95. You can find it at:

Isotech has developed System Safe Professional, a program that effectively mimics Win98's Registry backup/Restore procedure. I encourage you to download and try this program out! |
Windows CHDIR is an add-on for Windows9x that allows the user the ability to rapidly move from Windows to a DOS window. The program also allows the user to copy the full path of a file to the clipboard.
If you know of additional solutions/fixes for Win95, please send Email to no_spam@zittware.com. It will be placed on this site.
